2014
A year filled with new venues, partnerships and initiatives, 2014 was a pillar year for CJF in establishing our reputation as a regional source for world-class jazz. The year kicked off with our debut collaboration with the Richard B. Fisher Center for Performing Arts at Bard College, a partnership that opened our program to new audiences across the Hudson Valley and that would grow over the coming six years to serve as a home to annual spring, summer and fall programming.
2014 also introduced CJF to Woodstock with our Catskills tour featuring Uhadi, a super group specially curated by Jazz at Lincoln Center to celebrate the anniversary of 20 years of democracy in South Africa. This mini tour, which included both educational outreach and multiple free and ticketed performances across the Hudson Valley, would serve as the CJF model moving forward.
The summer of 2014 included our largest artist residency to date, the Joy of Jazz Week led by Marcus Roberts, including our premiere and sold-out Bard Summerscape Spiegeltent debut, the Harlem on the Hudson Experience. Summer 2014 also marked the launch of our sister non-profit the 23Arts Initiative in Tannersville, NY, which would lead to many future years of co-led programs across the village.
