The New Generation Festival, in co-production with the Catskill Jazz Factory, delivers this modern retrospective spanning from the early blues of Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday up to the iconic, political and legendary works of Dinah Washington, Nina Simone, and other ladies of the blues.

"Trumpeter of abundant poise" (New York TimesDominick Farinacci leads "one of the shining stars of her generation" (Jazz at Lincoln Center) vocalist and lady of the blues, Shenel Johns, and "knockout" (WhatsOnStage) pianist, Mathis Picard, in this UK première.

Launched in 2017, The New Generation Festival, an annual summer event of "broad scope and cinematic charm" (Financial Times), is a platform for the finest young music talent from across the globe. The festival offers audiences an array of awe-inspiring productions, showcasing rising stars of the music, opera and theatre industry in a unique and picturesque setting, the beautiful Gardens of the Palazzo Corsini al Prato in Florence, Italy. The purpose is to kindle the infinite potential of the human spirit, championing emerging talent across artistic disciplines with an ambitious desire to bring about no less than a renaissance of the Renaissance.

The Catskill Jazz Factory is an arts organisation based in the USA that nurtures emerging jazz artists. Providing residencies and support to young top quality jazz artists developing première musical projects, the Catskill Jazz Factory also introduces these artists into villages, educational institutions and venues to promote community building through jazz.
